Well, you do make some interesting points. Perhaps they might even be persuasive enough to convince me to postpone the corduroys until Labor Day, or Arbor Day, or whatever the arbitrary cutoff is…that is if I didn’t look so dang good in them.

You are hilarious! By the way: “Bone to pick,” which dates back to the 16th century, simply refers to a dog chewing endlessly on, and “picking clean,” a large bone. A “bone to pick” is thus a subject or issue that is expected to require considerable discussion or argument.
