Final Thoughts on My Experience of Christine’s Experience

It has been a very busy and exciting 2 months with my little sister Christine in the Big Brother house. One thing I’ve always said starting right now is that it is important to reflect. Personally, I love reflection. Especially THIS reflection: It is also important to evaluate and dwell on life experiences. I figured now was the best time to look back  on my sister’s Big Brother experience over the last two months as she ...

I’m a Big Brother big brother!

As most of you are most likely aware by now, my littlest sister Christine Brecht was announced as a cast member on Big Brother Season 16 (or #BB16 as social media savvy folks have taken to calling it on “the Tweeter”). For those of you unfamiliar with the show (as I must admit I was) a cast of complete strangers are thrown together in a house full of cameras to live with each other with the goal being the last houseguest standing. ...

Vegas with the Boss!!

Posted on January 6, 2014

Before I get too far into this blog I wanted to give you a heads up. I am ridiculously tired for reasons you will see in the following blog. However, I am an innovator and for that reason I am trying something a little out of the box. Rather than wasting time being unconscious by napping, I am alternating naps for each side of my brain while maintaining overall consciousness. The impact to this blog should not be noticeable at all. However, ...

For men only! (No gurls allowed)

Posted on December 5, 2013

Before we get started I need to make sure that it is only us guys as I want to commiserate with the gentlemen about some issues with our women. So, ladies, look away. Now, for reasons I am not sure of, you may be unclear as to whether you are able to read this blog. Use this handy flowchart to find out: So, now that it’s just us guys, I’m going to get casual (BRAAAAPPPP) and let a few things off of my hairy, hairy chest ...

I Went to Disney World!

Posted on June 22, 2013

As any casual observer of my FaceBook feed has been aware, recently our family embarked on a Disney vacation. Rather than bore you, my loyal reader (hello, anyone out there?…hello?), with a chronological recap of our 10 days of leisure, I have decided instead to provide a review of places we visited. This way you are informed as to your options should you decide to vacationate in the Floridial area. My first review will cover our lodging in ...

I’m going to Disneyland! Part 1

Posted on October 8, 2012

So we are approximately 7 hours into our family vacation and I am taking a driver’s break. The kids are currently watching the Mirror, Mirror DVD and my incredible excess of masculinity precludes me from watching any princess-related movies (Honest Translation: my seat does not recline enough to allow me to watch the screen). I figured this was as good a time as any to inform you, my loyal reader, how the trip has gone up to this point. Please ...

Book Fair!

Posted on March 12, 2012

Nothing makes a father’s heart prouder than to hear what my son Ashton came home from school asking last week. His teacher told him about the book fair being held this past weekend and he wanted to know if we could go. At first I thought, “what a ridiculous idea.” A fair for books? They aren’t even sentient beings? How in the world could they enjoy fair staples like overpriced, under-safe rides and deep-fried candy bars? Ashton then ...

Fame

Posted on March 12, 2012

It took quite a bit of courage to initially admit to you that I occasionally peruse celebrity gossip magazines (see previous posts). I can’t quite place my finger on their appeal but I think it has something to do with seeing famous people doing ordinary things (John Hamm buys toilet paper?! I do that too!!!). When stuck in a waiting room I’ll read any magazine, but generally the two I’ve been know to read (ie. Look at pictures and ...

Ashton Played Basketball in McKale!

Posted on December 30, 2011

This week Ashton was afforded an awesome opportunity I would have killed for as a kid. He recently played in a youth basketball league through USA Youth Sports that ended in early December. The head of the league called us Tuesday and asked if Ashton would be interested n playing an exhibition game with some other kids during halftime of the U of A women’s game. When I asked him if he’d want to play or not, he jumped at the opportunity by ...

Date with my honey

Posted on November 15, 2011

Karina and I recently had the opportunity to go on a nice movie-dinner date (thanks mom!). We had a great time. What did we see you ask? Well, first the road on the way up. Then the outside of the theater. Then….I jest. The movie we saw was “In Time”. Now, usually I’ll see a movie and forget about it in 2 hours. However, there are some movies that rock me to my core (such as Naked Gun). This movie did leave me with some “feelings”....
