What I’ve been up to

Posted on January 23, 2009

As you can probably guess by my lack of recent updates, I have had a very busy couple of months. I just want to hit the highlights: Karina and I celebrated our 7th anniversary on December 29. My mom and sister were kind enough to offer to watch the kids so that Karina and I could spend the night together. We decided to head to Phoenix. Karina found a good deal on a nice Hilton resort. By the time we made it to the hotel it was about 10:30 at ...

Tattoo

Posted on August 30, 2008

I have recently begun contemplating getting a tattoo. Some other members of my family mentioned doing it themselves, and that got me thinking. It’s difficult to decide on a tattoo however. I definitely want something special that I will be content with for life. I am afraid of being the guy sporting a giant caricature of Walter Mondale and Geraldine Ferraro, or a “Milli Vanilli –Best New Artist Grammy 1990” phrase on my back. A few of ...

The Dark Knight…and sandals

Posted on July 29, 2008

I recently had the opportunity to catch a little flick that appears to be flying under the radar: The Dark Knight. I am a huge Batman fan and let me tell you, this film did not disappoint. The acting was superb, the action was intense, and the story was more than you’d expect out of a superhero flick. My only complaint has to be with the utter lack of “Kapows” and “Bla-Blams” following Batman’s punches. Perhaps that is a little ...

“Masculinity”

Posted on June 23, 2008

So I have a bone to pick with our country. And despite the fact I have no idea how a bone would come to be picked or why that analogy relates in any way, I know enough to understand it means I have a gripe with our society. It has to do with "masculinity". For those of you who may be thinking, "that is a big word, what does that even mean?" I will tell you. "Gripe" means to nag or grumble. (note to self…remove that last line before posting ...

Exploring more senses

Posted on May 31, 2008

I’m back with more insight into my spiral into insanity. I’m sure people are starting to wonder about me due to my obsession with bathroom humor and germs. Well, not to disappoint, I’m going to combine those subjects and talk about some situations we all face. Rather than being crazy, I like to think of myself of an everyman’s hero. I explore the “sensitive” issues one would not dare bring up in public. Therefore, you are welcome...

Earthquake!!!

The other day I was surfing the net and happened to stumble across the article found at the following link: http://apnews.myway.com/article/20080521/D90Q9RQ81.html (Random digression: can one really “stumble” while “surfing”? I submit that one cannot. The correct terminology for happening across something on the internet should be “wiped out”.) I will give you a moment to read the article… Ok, now that you have comprehensiv...

Restaurants

Posted on May 18, 2008

Recently I’ve found myself eating out far more than I should. While more expensive than eating at home, I have been unable to resist the convenience, service, and tastiness of restaurants. My experiences over the past few weeks have given me some ideas that I would incorporate in a restaurant, were I ever to open one. I think the combination of these items, and some delicious food would lead to the world’s most bestest restaurant. Waiters ...

Dinner with a bovine

For those of you looking for a fast food restaurant catering to the chicken lover (as in one who loves chickens, not as in a chicken Casanova), allow me to make a recommendation: Chik-Fil-A. The plain old chicken sandwiches are delicious, preferably with mayo and some hot sauce. Additionally, they offer a wholesome family atmosphere and cute play area for the kiddies. And as if that weren’t enough, Tuesday nights are family nights. Kids meals ...

Hygiene

Posted on February 17, 2008

Believe it or not, I find I am frequently mocked for various reasons. Thankfully, I am fortunate to have a spouse that I can go to when I am being teased, she is my fortress from the winds of torment. Karina is always able to take the focus off of the pain, usually by finding something else to make fun of me about. A frequent target of her teasing is my habit of washing my hands…a lot. Now, before I defend myself, I would like to point out ...

Random Stuff

I realize it’s been a while since my last blog, but circumstances have prevented me from posting in a while.  The circumstances I refer to are class. Normally I can pen out a blog during a lecture, but recently the courses have been requiring my attention. That being said, I hope everyone had a good Chinese New Year. I’ve been paying some attention to the presidential race recently. While I will not go into my political preferences, I ...
