Kiddies
As most of you know, I am blessed to be the dad of two wonderful children. Parenting is a continuous learning exercise and, as my kids are two and four years old, I figure I have a combined total of 6 years of “education”. I know a lot of people are intimidated at the thought of having children, but let me tell you, there is no more rewarding experience in the world. And, it’s really not as bad as you’d think. In fact, it’s a lot ...
Foodage
There are few things I enjoy more than, or put in my body more frequently than food. The only exception to the former being basketball and to the latter: Q-tips. Therefore, since the fact that I eat food nearly THREE TIMES A DAY qualifies me as a pseudo-expert, I thought I’d share some food related information. Unfortunately, our family tends to eat out more often than we should. Grabbing food while we are out running errands (such as ...
Presidential race
I consider myself a patriotic American. I truly appreciate this great land of ours and the opportunities we are blessed with just by living here. I take every chance to do my civic duties, whether it is responding to jury duty, paying my taxes, eating as many hot dogs as possible on July 4th or voting (this year I voted three times in a row for Blake Lewis on the last season of American Idol…I didn’t actually call my vote in, but I thought ...
Friendly words of wisdom
The other night I was in the shower pondering ideas that I might use for another blog when it hit me. "It" being my shampoo as it had fallen off the shelf. But, then it struck me...this time it was the conditioner. I really have to fix that shelf. Once all of the hair products were back in place I realized what I wanted to write about: another shower experience. Don't worry though, this is a clean story (pun most definitely intended). It may ...
Huge Announcement!
Karina and I have some huge, exciting news to share! We are expecting our third...Wal-Mart within 5 miles to open soon! Your congratulations and well wishes are appreciated. I understand that Wal-Mart has become a controversial subject these days. Generally I do not like to step on toes or be too political, but heck, here goes: I love Cap'n Crunchberries for $1.98. Those of you used to shopping at supermarkets staffed by union grocers may ...
Interesting Weekend
Sunday evening turned out to be far more extraordinary than I was planning, or wished it to. And by extraordinary, I don't mean an excess of ordinary as the word seems to imply, but rather much less ordinary than normal. My wife was out of town for the weekend in Hawaii with her mother. She was flying back Monday morning. I was looking forward to hitting the sack (that's a euphemism for counting sheep) and grabbing a solid eight hours of ...
Perplexing Questions
Prepare to be blown away. I mean, clear your head and prepare to put your brain into "high brain synapse activity" mode. Ponder the following question: do flies hover? Actually, that question isn't so mind-boggling, because they don't (at least in the research I have conducted in my kitchen). But, CAN they? Let that percolate for a while. Questions such as these are always popping into my head. I suppose you could probably call it "inspirat...
Coffee
According to most relationship studies there are three main sources of conflict within marriage: sex, money, and coffee. You may be surprised at that list, but believe me, money is a real source of conflict.I've had the opportunity to experience a little coffee-related tension. Don't get me wrong, I've never had any problems with coffee, but then again, that wouldn't be a fair fight since coffee can't talk. My wife and I however have had some ...
Pee Wee Soccer
I recently had the opportunity to "lead" a group of 3 and 4 year olds in soccer practice after the primary coach's child got sick. I use quotation marks around lead as my primary function was to ensure none of the children managed to kill themselves for the 20 minutes we had practice. I learned one thing about organizing a group of 3 and 4 year olds...it doesn't happen. Any activities have to be short and hectic in order to keep their ...
