Here’s something else for you to hate! (I’m talking to you Twitter)

Posted on August 26, 2014

As you may have noticed, I have taken some time from blogging to lay low for a bit. I did this in order to avoid inciting the typical “your family sucks” and “your sister is a hateful, vile person who belongs in the pits of hell…because she says mean things” reactions from social media. But I would like to take a moment to address the Twitter critics in a manner of communication I assume they value as it is how they’ve chosen to communicate with us: You suck!! YOUR sister’s ugly!

I am not going to defend all of her actions (even though it seems many people are now viewing EVERYTHING she does through tinted lenses) except to say that you are observing Big Brother contestant Christine. I know you think you know her because you watch her every evening while petting your 18 cats, but you weren’t in the same uterus as her. Nor are you married to her. But feel free to continue judging her if it makes you feel better. As a representative of her family, I can assure you that we are definitely taking the advice you offer as to how Christine should be treated very seriously. The advice offered by you: someone who chooses to watch other humans interacting instead of doing so yourself.

On a semi-related note, I am honestly fearful I may accidentally call her “hashtag-B-B-Christine” to her face as that is how I have been referring to her on social media.

Anywho, now that I have stoked Twitter’s flames, I’ll address a bit of the show: Those of you who know me may sense that Christine is a bit different than me. You would not be wrong (on this at least…don’t get a big head). I am much more a slave to social conventions whereas Christine doesn’t even march to the beat of a different drummer…she marches to the beat of a different pianist. I envy her for many reasons including the fact that she is very outgoing and outspoken. Like I said, I am not going to defend everything she says and does in the house, but I will say I am super proud of her for making her dream of appearing on the show come true and still find it surreal that I see her on CBS three nights a week, only two nights fewer than David Letterman.

Beings we are different, I could never see myself doing the Big Brother thing. It sounds boooooooring. No technology or even books?! No thanks. It sounds just like camping except without the beauty of nature and without the excitement of peeing on trees (in anonymity at least). I’m pretty sure I’d bring in three months of conversation starters to ensure things don’t get a bit tedious (ok Cody, would you rather be a human-sized ant, or an ant-sized human?). And I would also bring in Chutes ‘N Ladders or maybe UNO so Victoria would have a chance to win some sort of competition (hey-o!).

One thing I am finding interesting is the strategy involved with the game. I love observing what information some of the Houseguests choose to reveal about themselves and what they choose to hide. For example, Derrick doesn’t want the house to know he is an undercover cop. That is probably the most advantageous career in this game outside of “Professional Reality Show Strategist”. Even though my title of Work-At-Home-Dad wouldn’t cause me enemies in the house, I think I’d take that advantage to make up my dream job. Something like “Ice Cream Flavor Tester” or “Manatee Tickler.”

Going forward I think Christine needs to be careful. She is bound to be one of the next few evicted. She does have a good shot (according to Twitter) of winning the coveted “Most Hated Houseguest” award. However, Frankie is giving her a good run for her money. And speaking of Frankie, I’m not saying, but I’m just saying: he is so flamboyant that he is flam-MAN-ant.

Alright y’all, I’ll try to check back again. Until then, keep watching Big Bro and rooting for Christine! (and Mr. Whiskers looks hungry)

I understand that Christine and your mother have been watching this show since it began (which knowing that it is 16th version of Big Brother) that means it has been on quite a while. It is quite obvious to me that Christine has studied this “game” pretty closely and has an understanding how to survive until the late rounds.
When it was announced that she was on, I honestly thought that she would be eaten alive by the type of people who usually inhabit these sort of shows. She has proven herself to be much more complex than that nice person who used to live next door to us.
My television watching is extremely limited due to my other commitments, but the times I have watched the show — it left me cringing. Perhaps I am from the generation that just doesn’t understand the need to air everything about yourself to the entire nation.
    Peace.

Christine is still horrible, and while twitter is in an uproar, her verbal bashings (most having NOTHING to do with game, attacking Jocasta and her religion (as a “christian” she should know better)) have caused the disgust with many viewers. After last season, and the spew of racism, bigotry, she should have been more careful. Cody shows absolutely no respect to Tim because he see’s that Christine shows no respect to her husband. Many people have won this game without assasinating characters (Ian, Dan, Hayden just to name a few, the list goes on), she is truly a disgusting person, unfortunately you share DNA so you can continue to look at her through rose colored glasses that you claim many viewers are, well we are unbiased, whereas you are, so if anything we will be seeing things more clearly, if you didn’t know, the first few weeks Christine was a favorite, I liked her, its her actions, personal attacks, and hatred for herself AND others that have caused the hate viewers have for her. If i go to hell for this comment, I’ll discuss it with Christine who will be there waiting for me. Wish family wasn’t brought into it, but people will debate on twitter with those who defend her, and seeing as she has like no fans, its mostly family that defends her unfortunately.

WHAT is the point of a blog if you don’t allow people to comment honestly. Instead you only Ok the comments that flatter you. That’s egotistic and you are looking a little like Tim with the “Your Problem cover is beautiful manna to my ears in a world where only you can pluck the heartstrings” YouTube comments. Nothing worse than someone who can’t take the heat.

I appreciate the snap judgment there Vicky but in reality I was having a spam problem on my blog so I had to manually approve every comment. I was just away from the computer. You can see form the previous blog that I approved comments that weren’t the most positive. So, in conclusion: less an ego thing and more a bad-at-computers thing.
By the way, Tim isn’t a cruel and petty jerk. He’s actually a great guy. I guess I’ve missed the bad mouthing part, although I know he has made it clear he isn’t happy about the Cody thing, which is his prerogative.

If you respond and your comment isn’t approved, it’s because I’m going to sleep. I’ll get it in the am. 🙂

What is your point regarding the comment about Frankie?
What was your intention when you made that statement? It FEELS like you are trying to say “there’s another ‘bad person’ in the house, too. WHY cut him down for who he is in that respect, which hurts no one? Is it ok to cut people down or not???
I have defended Christine numerous times against people calling her ugly. That’s not fair. Her behavior is very ugly, but that’s by choice, unlike her looks. It’s very disappointing to hear people bully her over her looks. I hate that. But Christine is falling into this mode a people bashing that is off the charts. And she was bullied herself! I believe she feels “in” with the cool kids and maybe that’s all she knows to say, but I doubt that highly. If not for her ugly, out of NOWHERE, cringeworthy, disgusting comments, she COULD be a fan favorite as the good Christian girl. Oh, how dangerous it is to tout yourself as such and then talk the way she does, disrespect TIM, herself, their relationship and commitment, her church, her family and God. There’s no denying the manner in which she blatantly did so with Cody. No two ways about it, that is WRONG. The entire wedding video is cheapened to viewers. It means nothing. It’s not sweet or positive emotional reaction provoking. It ires MOST PEOPLE, who feel bad for Tim. Why wouldn’t we? I applaud while standing at how Tim has reacted publicly to all the criticism, mean attacks and just seeing humans at their worse. The irony in that is that we are seeing the human Christine at her worst with no redeeming qualities I can identify to date. Hate it for Tim and your family the most. I guess she made her bed and will have to lie in it. We just wish it wasn’t currently also occupied with Cody, FOR TIM.

Hey Casey, in regards to my Frankie comment, the definition of flamboyant is “strikingly bold or brilliant; showy; conspicuously dashing and colorful”. I feel Frankie very strikingly typifies that (down to the quite literally colorful hair). If you find insult or offense in that, I suggest you are looking for it and will find it anywhere.

Also, I specifically noted that I am not defending her actions so the lecture isn’t necessary. 🙂 But I do appreciate the time you put in to your response.

I appreciate your response. The only comment that was approved on the two blog posts I viewed was the first response on this entry. I’m glad to have been proved wrong, and find you more likeable, since you do allow comments that aren’t glowing ego strokes.

Dang! We should have put money on that!

The only comments I don’t approve are the ones offering me vast Nigerian riches due to my relationship to a foreign prince.

Awww. Don’t feel negatively about Christine but do feel she is letting herself get played by the members of her alliance. But that is the nature of the game. Sorry that you and the family are experiencing such vitriol. People forget it is just a game and folks adopt certain personas in the house that don’t necessarily represent them IRL. Unless you are one of the racists from last season. That sure wasn’t a game strategy.

The irony of people who sit around watching complete strangers day and night criticizing others for being HUMAN, warts and all, is amusing.
I’m a live feeder myself. I watch these complete strangers too, but because of that we see them in all their humanity. Nobody is perfect, nobody is ALL GOOD or ALL BAD. We all have our faults. Whatever you think of the houseguests, they are human just like the rest of us. I don’t want to expose my faults to the world any more than I already do, so I don’t. I wonder how the haters would fare having their every last word and breath monitored by complete strangers. THINK ABOUT IT.

At first I wasn’t going to say anything, but now I feel compelled to do so. I find it really intolerable that people make conclusions about Christine based on what they see on TV. You don’t know her. Furthermore, producers and editors purposely stitch the show together to build drama and create characters that help with the show’s ratings. Granted, I don’t watch the live feed (I think the only people who really should spend the time watching it is her family and friends, otherwise get a life), so I don’t know how she acts other than what I see on the regular episodes. I will say that in the beginning of the show she said she’s not against trying any tactic to win. If it means talking crap about other people, or flirting with Cody, whatever. It’s a game when it’s all said and done. It’s not real life.

THATS THE THING THOUGH, people auditioning know what they are setting themselves up for. If they are super hated or super liked, this will spill over into their families lives too. Christine knew that, though she probably assumed she would be well loved, lol. Honestly I don’t think her actions warrant the reaction, but there is little else to follow this season.

Just wanted to let you know, Christine and Tim are good friends of mine and zacks (my bf). I think she’s doing wonderful and I can’t wait for her to win, as for the social media trying to dictate her life – I’m sick and appalled and believe in her 100%. Has she made some not smart decisions, sure, everyone has, but she’s engrossed in a game she loves and can do whatever the hell she wants frankly, I can’t wait to see her and give her a big ass hug. She’s #1 in my book and from here on out I’m just hoping she rallies the girls together and turn on the boys.

Christine’s obvious makeover pryor to the show saved her, i don’t mind her really, but no way she will stay married. Frankie is a disgusting piece of shit. Today Frankie said that Cody/Caleb should “TAKE ALL OF VICTORIA’S DIFFERENT VIRGINITY (IES) AT THE SAME TIME” Fucking rape sales pitch..

Hi, I just wanted to say that I admire you and your family for dealing with all this hatred directed at Christine. I hope once the show is over you all can get back to some sense of normalcy and peace. I love Big Brother and watch it for all it’s human drama but realize ( as Caleb would say ) that at the end of the day it’s just a game:)
